Release notes

What changed, and when. Updates within version 3 are included in the licence.

Version 3.1.0 Current

August 2026

  • The product is now called Screen Slinger. Same tool, new name, applied across the app in all four interface languages.
  • The download is digitally signed. Windows no longer shows an "Unknown publisher" warning when you run it.
  • The installer is served from screenslinger.com itself rather than a separate storage address, so the download link stays stable across releases.

Version 3.0.0

August 2026

  • Dark theme by default. The editor opens dark; the light theme is still there if you prefer it.
  • Packaging fix. The published executable is now genuinely self-contained: one file, no loose native libraries beside it, and nothing to install. It is also roughly half the size it used to be.

About the version numbers. Version 3.0 is the first public release under the Screen Slinger name. Earlier builds existed but were never sold, so the notes start there. Work done before 3.0 — the memory budget for the undo stack, thumbnailed capture history, debounced saving and a leaner session-file format — is already in every version listed here.

Every update released for version 3 is included in the licence. If there is ever a version 4, it will be a separate purchase — that is stated on the pricing section and in the licence agreement, and it will not change retroactively.

The current build is always at screenslinger.com/download. There is no automatic updater and no background update service — download the new file and replace the old one; your captures, history and settings are untouched.
